Elite Troops: Online RPG
New Elite troops in the Playtest

Below you'll find answers to the most common questions we receive. Basically, it's the what, the why, the when, and the how of the getting into Riftforge.

What's in the Playtest

You’ll be able to play with all three archetypes: Guardians, Raiders, and Rangers. Each archetype will come with its commander as well as core and special troops. As you win battles and earn gold, you’ll be able to upgrade your equipment, skills, and troops (see elite troops).

With your commander and troops, you will engage other players in one-versus-one battlegrounds. There are ranked battles as well as practice battles. Your objective is to climb the ranks by defeating increasingly more skilled opponents. Read more »

Elite Templar Assassins: Riftforge onlineThe Order of Aguta’s Temple is an ancient organization indigenous to Manirak. Recently though, it was taken over by Riftforge. Even with new management, the Templars continue to look at the Sisterhood and the Guild as insolent upstarts.

From time immemorial, the Order has been taking care of the mortally wounded and terminally ill in an efficient, if not always a very humane manner.

Yet, the Templars’ primary focus remains thwarting the heretics. The most grievous affront to Aguta is creating constructs, organisms patched together from different creatures. Read more »

Online RPG Guild troops: Wreckers
Guild troops: Wreckers

The Guild started with the claimed "discovery" of a major religious artefact – Tornar’s hammer. As the hammer became a reason for a pilgrimage, the Guild soon found itself in the middle of a flourishing market of all things Manirak – from cheap religious reproductions to rare goods and resources.

Naturally, each Guildsman is a certified craftsman and a professional trader. Jewelers and goldsmiths are especially common, as the need to identify precious items is paramount in Riftforge. Read more »

Sisterhood troops: Reavers

The quintessential "people" person, every Sister specializes in the subtle (bribery, intimidation) and not so subtle (extortion, kidnapping, murder) art of persuasion.

The Sannah priesthood goes through ten ritual promotions. With each ritual, the priestess loses a finger through exposure to the cold. Unlike the more public Guild and Templars, Sisters take precautions to hide their rank by wearing gloves at all times.

Only sisters of the lowest five ranks make their way into Manirak on errands. Rumor has it the current Mother Superior has achieved the highest rank only recently, which very nearly precipitated a crisis of confidence within the organization. Read more »

In traditional MMORPGs, healers are often the class that is most sought after by groups of all sizes. Damage dealers are always plentiful and tanks... well, you only need one or two.

The good news is that you’ll find that ALL three Riftforge archetypes are essential, so no matter which one you choose, you’ll never be sitting by the sideline. Your skills as a player alone will determine how many invites you'll receive, not your class choice. Read more »

Continuing with the all important questions that you keep sending:

Where's the Mage class?! I always play a mage.

Your inner Gandalf will not be disappointed. The mage is often described as a Nuker (ranged damage dealer), some even go so far as to call it a glass cannon (or a softie).

One good look at the Rangers and you’ll discover they play very much like a mage. Or rather, like a band of mad warlocks. Read more »
