The Rangers base mechanic is Blaze. Actions by your Ranger unit will increase Blaze. When operating at 100% Blaze, action skills will cause increased damage, including massive criticals. The downside is that the higher the Blaze, the bigger the chance that some of these skills can backfire, dealing damage to the unit that used the action skill.

Rangers battle phases:

Preparation - the ranger units take a position that is suited for an ambush (L-shaped or V-shaped formation). Grenadiers will place mines along the likely path of the enemy.

  • Preparation - the ranger units take a position that is suited for an ambush (L-shaped or V-shaped formation). Grenadiers will place mines along the likely path of the enemy.
  • Initiation - marksmen will engage the enemy at long range, targeting vulnerable units; the enemy will be forced to close the distance quickly which triggers the mines (Blaze at 50%+).
  • Culmination - all units engage the enemy: rangers shoot at advancing enemy units; sappers hit tight formations with projectiles. (Blaze at 100%). The objective of this phase is to break the enemy's formations and their will to fight.
  • Conclusion - rangers will snipe out retreating units; sappers will destroy massed enemies. If the battle has turned against them, the Rangers will try to withdraw to a secondary position and repeat the same steps.
